 It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the sky 
was blue and the weather was perfect. Lan was outside 
playing with her dog, Skippy. All of a sudden, the dog 
began behaving strangely. She kept on running around in 
circles. Lan ran home with her dog to tell her mother what 
Skippy was doing. Lan's mother, Mrs. Quyen told Lan that 
she heard on TV that there was a typhoon coming. Mrs. 
Quyen gathered her family and told them to find shelter 
in the home.
 Suddenly, the sky became very dark. The storm came 
with strong winds and heavy rain. Mrs. Quyen and her 
family were scared, but soon the storm finished and 
everyone was glad. What a clever dog Skippy is ! She 
saved Lan from being caught in the typhoon. Unit 9 : Natural disasters

 Use the cues given to build up a story, and tell before the class. 
1. It / nice Sunday mor ning. => It was a nice Sunday morning
2. Weather / beautiful; sky / blue.=> The weather was beautiful and the sky was blue .
3. Minh/ stay/ home alone/ help/ his parents / house work.
=> Minh stayed at home alone helping his parents with the housework.
4. Suddenly/ the Sun/clouded. Sky/ become very dark. Strong winds/ start/ blow .
=>Suddenly, the Sun was clouded. The sky became very dark.
 Strong winds started to blow.
5. Minh / scared. But he / try / keep calm. 
 => Minh was scared. But he tried to keep calm.
6. He/ close / all the windows / doors; find / himself a shelter in the house.
=> He closed all the windows and doors then found himself a shelter in the house 
7. Storm / come / strong winds/ heavy rain. But / soon / storm / finish.
=> The storm came with strong winds and heavy rain. But soon the storm finished.
 8. The Sun/ shine / and / the birds / sing / again.
 => The sun was shining and the birds were singing again.
 9. Minh / glad . He/ think/ his parents / trust / him / when / they / out / for work.
 => Minh was glad. He thought his parents would trust him
