 I. The simple past tense (Qúa khứ đơn) WH- question:
- WH-word + was/ were + S (+ not) + ?
- S + was/ were (+ not) + .
Examples:
What was the weather like yesterday? 
Why were you sad? 
WH- word + did + S + V (ng. mẫu)?
- S + V-ed/ V2 + 
Examples:
- What did you do last Sunday?

- Thêm “-ed” sau động từ hợp quy tắc
Watch – watched / turn – turned/ want –
wanted/ attach – attached/ 
Động từ tận cùng là “e” -> chỉ thêm “d”
type – typed/ smile – smiled/ like – liked
 Động từ có 1 âm tiết, tận cùng là 1 phụ âm, 
trước phụ âm là 1 nguyên âm thì 
nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ed”.
stop – stopped/ shop – shopped/ tap – tapped
Ngoại lệ: commit – committed/ travel –
travelled/ prefer – preferred Động từ tận cùng là “y”
• Nếu trước “y” là 1 nguyên âm (a,e,i,o,u) 
thì thêm “ed”.
play – played/ stay – stayed
• Nếu trước “y” là phụ âm (còn lại ) đổi 
“y” thành “i + ed”.
study – studied/ cry – cried Cách phát âm “-ed”
 Tận cùng của động từ là /t/, /d/
Đọc là /id/
 - Needed, wanted, visited, painted 
 Tận cùng của động từ là /ch/, /s/, /x/, 
 /sh/, /k/, /f/, /p/
Đọc là /t/
 - Looked, watched, passed, boxed, 
 laughed, washed, stopped, talked 
 Tận cùng của động từ là các phụ âm và 
Đọc là /d/ nguyên âm còn lại
 - played, stayed, rained, called, Choose the best option (A,B,C,D) to complete the sentences

Đối với động từ to be, thì were được dùng cho tất cả 
các ngôi
 - I wish I could speak French now = If only I could 
speak french now.
 - I wish I didn’t have to do this job = If only I didn’t 
have to do this job.
 - I wish you could stay longer. 
 - I wish I were older.

1. Hiện S + V(s/es) + O S+ is/am/are + 
tại đơn - Mary studies VpII + (by + O)

2. Quá S + V-ed + O S + was/were + VpII 
khứ đơn - She wrote a letter + (by + O)
 yesterday. - A letter was written

hoàn thành - My parents have bought VpII + (by + O)

4. Modal May/might + V May/might + be +

 Should + V be going to be PII/Ved
